Chief Watersports Instructor – Northampton

Contact: Permanent seasonal position, 4th
March to 3rd November,
Salary: £20,800 PR
Location: Northampton Sailing Club, Pitsford
Reservoir, Brixworth, NN6 9DG
Start Date: 4th March
Closing Date: 19th November
Key Tasks
To organise, plan and deliver
high quality watersports activities to demand including weekends and evenings
To keep up to date with all
current coaching practices and undertake continuous professional development
To review, understand and
implement the Northampton sailing Club activity policies and procedures. To
ensure all staff have been inducted and have a good level of understanding of
these procedures
Assist the office with
planning group and course bookings
To assist the club manager in
staff rotas
Recruit, develop and lead
instructional staff
To deputise for the club
manager on days off
To ensure all staff stay
current and qualifications are in date and recorded
To assist in the monitoring
and evaluation of all staff by completing the appropriate paper work as advised
by the club manager
To inform the club manager of
any accidents / incidents which occur and to inform the instructional team of
any concerns which may arise.
To display consistently high
standards of behaviour in accordance with the NSC & RYA code of conduct for
instructors
To run activity sessions with
other staff demonstrating best practices
Maintain accurate records of
certificates/log books issued; ensure registers completed, record schools/groups
weekly progress.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
You
will be passionate about outdoor education and are able to inspire others
As
part of a team you will need to use your excellent observational skills to
ensure we deliver the highest standards in health and safety and service
quality
You
will be able to lead on programmes and initiatives and demonstrate strategic
creativity within selected projects you will be leading on
You always work hard to be a role model for everyone to meet
You
can demonstrate a conscientious approach to resource management and have an
aptitude to understand equipment maintenance
You have got experience managing a team of instructors
You have a broad range of outdoor activity experience and hold a senior
instructor in dinghy or windsurfing
Desirable Skills and
Qualifications
Willingness to develop you own experience and qualification in all activities
at the club
Experience running raft building and problem-solving sessions
To hold additional qualifications such as RYA PBI, RYA windsurfing instructors,
RYA VHF licence BCU bellboat helm, BCU level 1 coach, BCU sup module, mountain
biking leaders award.
